STRATEGIC PARTNERS:

Plastic Technology

Whenever precision is required, they always come off well:
KELLER HCW skiving machines for plastic films

Traditionally KELLER used to deal with machinery and large-sized plants for the veneer and plywood industry.

On the basis of veneer peeling lathes and slicing machines KELLER developed in the nineties of the last century a film skiving machine for the material of the future, Polytetrafluorethylene (PTFE).

The skiving machines for plastic film offered by KELLER HCW today meet highest quality requirements. In addition to PTFE they also skive the considerably harder PE (Polyethylene) absolutely precisely at skiving thicknesses of 0.025 to 6.3 mm.

With this machine, KELLER HCW has set a worldwide standard in this special segment.

  Polytetrafluorethylene PTFE

PTFE known under the trade names of Teflon or Hostaflon is a synthetic material resulting from the polymerisation of Tetrafluorethylene. It is extremely cold- and heat-resistant as well as resistant to chemicals. It is non-sticking and self-lubricating.

PTFE is mainly used for coating, lining and sealing of chemical equipment, for aircrafts and in space technology. Moreover, PTFE is used for special textiles (GoretexR), for sports equipment as well as household appliances (such as frying pans, irons).

PTFE is non-poisonous and can be used between -200° C and +260° C.

  Polyethylene PE

PE is the synthetic material, which is produced most in Germany and Europe. The basic material for the production of PE is ethylene gas, which is obtained from mineral oil or natural gas.

Depending on the method of production, one distinguishes between PE with a low density (LD-PE) and PE with a high density (HD-PE). KELLER HCW skiving machines process HD-PE billets with a density of approx. 7-8 million g/mol, partly with the admixture of graphite to increase the sliding quality.

PE film made by KELLER HCW skiving machines is mostly used as sliding surface of skis and snowboards. Wherever frictional forces cause wear of material and high energy consumption one will find a potential field of application of this material.

Monomer ethylene is not poisonous.
